Places My Video Will be Advertised

Youtube links:
In my opinion, youtube links via other music videos are the most effective ways to promote music with a similar genre and style. For example, indie artists may have advert for other indie artists within music videos on youtube.
The links are usually shown at the end of the video, such as this:

The youtube channel "The Mahogany Sessions" is shown in multiple thumbnails on the image above. This is a channel which records live sessions of songs by artists with an "indie" type sound. In my opinion, the best way to promote my video would be to set up a VEVO account on YouTube and have the video appear as a thumbnail at the end of a video of the same genre. I would achieve this, by using "tags" when I upload the video, and tagging all the artists who have a similar sound and video type to my artist.

This is an example of tagging :

This means that when a consumer types any of these sentences, words or names into the YouTube search bar, they will appear on the search results and at the end of a watched video in thumbnails as "suggested videos". This can also be useful when tagging youtube channels that contain the same music genre such as "the warren sessions"

Video Techniques

A technique I used throughout the video is the use of dark lighting with a bright source to create emphasis on an object or person. I used a match frequently throughout the video such as in the scene where the room was lit up by the artist striking a match and revealing her face. I liked the yellow glow it gave the artist's face as apposed to if an external light was used. I also liked how the flame created shadows on the face which link in with eh connotations of mystery and uncertainty.

I used a Dutch tilt in one of my shots to emphasize disorientation and to make the shot appear as a point of view via the use of the pillar in the left hand side of the screen and the subtle movement of the camera: this makes it look as if a person is looking over a wall at the building. The fact the shot is in slow motion, as well as the use of the brightness in the sky, suggest this shot is a flashback which may make the audience consider the connotations and the purpose behind the shot, and why it is a significant memory.
The intention behind this shot, along with other shots, is to suggest danger, mystery and "the unknown". this may influence the audience to develop their own interpretation and may cause empathy towards the person who's point of view it is. this may make the audience engage with the disturbing and dark connotations and moods

For this shot I used a hot front light which was slightly angled so that the light was shining from right to left over the actor's face. this created deep, dark eyes which contrasted with the surrounding skin. This was used to create a moody atmosphere.
I also used a 55-200mm lens to create depth of field to focus on the actor.
In editing, a used an effect called "glow" which brought out the colour white on a shot. I used this to emphasize the white in the actor's eyes.

For this shot I used a manual pan in which I picked the tripod up and panned it myself as apposed to panning it whilst on the tripod. I did this because I wanted the shot to appear as a point of view shot and I wanted a raw camera movement to simulate this. I also used a 55-200mm lens and zoomed in to around 100mm

For this shot I used the focus on my lens to alternate between blurry and clear as I filmed. This created a psychedelic feel to the shot as well as the use of effects which turned the spider a sickly yellow colour as well as blurred the background.

This effect was created by using the keyer effect and applying the effect multiple times till the image was almost a blank screen. then I used the glow effect multiple times to bring the brightness back up and to create the white splodges on the screen. In my opinion this is effective because it's a strange shot which wouldn't be visually possible in real life. The movement in the shot was created by throwing a rock into a pile of leaves which made the bright lights move around.

In this clip I used similar effect as the clip above ^^^ by bringing the brightness down and reintroducing the brightness which made the lighter shades stand out. I did this because when this clip was filmed it was getting dark, however we still chose to film this clip in the hope that we could bring the brightness up so that it wouldn't look as grainy. however, without effects, it looked grainy and you could hardly see the artist running across a field, so I created this effect and I liked the outcome because it made the artist look like a silhouette in a white dress, however this wasn't planned.
